Process

Our first step in the RV renovation process is to meet with you for an initial consultation, where we will gather all of the information we need to put together an estimate and timeline for the project. There are 4 main things that we will discuss, prior to starting any work, to ensure that we have a successful project:

Goals

What do you want to accomplish? What should the end result look like?

Budget

Do you have a rough (or exact) idea of how much you can devote to this project?

Estimate

Our estimation, based on all foreseeable factors, of what the final project should cost. Once we have an idea of your goals and desired budget, we can put together some options for you and tell you what you can expect to spend for your project.

While this step seems very basic, it is actually very critical to ensuring that both parties are happy with the project. As a customer, you want to make sure that the materials and work that we can provide at your price point will meet your expectations, and that you’ll be happy with the finished product. As a contractor, we need to make sure that we can meet your expectations for the quality you desire, without running over budget on labor.

Given the importance of this step, it can take anywhere from a single day, to a week or more to put together a proper estimate depending on the complexity of the project; total renovation projects with new flooring, bathroom, kitchen, solar power, electronics installation, etc. can take a while to spec and price out.

Schedule

How long it will take us to complete the project, and when we can start it.

At this stage, we will have had a chance to run the numbers, and we would like to sit down and discuss with you the details of the estimate. We will discuss the labor, materials, and any other factors that go into the estimate. If you need time to consider, or you have solicited alternate estimates, that is OK. Otherwise, if you are ready to move forward, we move on to the next step.

Once you are comfortable with the details of the estimate, we will sign a simple contract that lays out the scope of work, materials which will be used, the cost, warranty period, and the timeline to complete.

We will set a schedule or expectation of payments based upon project milestones which we will discuss with you. We will also take a deposit, at minimum, to cover materials or any other upfront costs which will be incurred at the project onset.

We will arrange transportation of your RV to the place of storage and work. Ideally, the RV will be in driveable condition. If not, we will discuss any considerations for the transport (and cost thereof) of your RV.

At this point, we will begin work on your RV. We will check in with you periodically to update you on the status. Please, if you need anything or want to discuss the status of your project, don’t hesitate to call – it gets busy around here, so if you don’t hear from us, feel free to pick up the phone and give us a buzz!

As things progress, we may optionally invite you down to review the work which we’ve done, or send photos via text/email. We will also communicate with you regarding any payments needed at certain stages of the project.

When we are nearing completion of the project, we will arrange a time for you to do a final review of the work. Provided that you are happy with the finished product, we will collect a final payment and you will take back possession of your RV.
